On-Site Amenities for Visitors
Marine Education Center
Opened in 2002, guests can explore the Marine Education Center, where biologists and volunteers share insights about Hanauma Bay’s vibrant marine ecosystem and the importance of reef conservation. All guests are required to watch an 8-minute educational video that explains the guidelines for responsible snorkeling and reef safety. However, when booking through Roberts Hawai‘i, guests can conveniently view this mandatory video aboard our Electric Motorcoach enroute to the Bay, allowing them to bypass the on-site video line and spend more time enjoying the water.
Snorkel Rentals
Located conveniently near the beach area, Dive Oʻahu is the official snorkel concessionaire at Hanauma Bay, offering quality rental equipment to help visitors make the most of their day in the water. Guests can choose from standard or premium rental options, including dry mask and snorkel sets or full sets with fins for a more complete snorkeling experience. Guests are also required to complete a rental waiver before receiving their equipment. A valid photo ID or credit card may be held during the rental period as a security measure, so visitors should bring proper identification.
Hanauma Bay Concession Stand
Located near the upper entrance of Hanauma Bay, the concession stand offers a convenient place to grab a light meal, snack, or refreshing beverage before or after your time at the beach. Guests can enjoy a variety of options such as sandwiches, wraps, salads, hot dogs, fruit cups, ice cream, and cold drinks including bottled water, juices, and sodas. Visitors are also welcome to bring a small personal cooler with snacks and non-alcoholic beverages to enjoy at the beach. Please note that glass containers and alcohol are not permitted within the nature preserve. Hours of Operation: 08:30 am - 2:00 pm

Hanauma Bay Tram
To make your Hanauma Bay experience even more enjoyable, the City and County of Honolulu provides a complimentary tram service, operated by Roberts Hawai‘i, that conveniently transports visitors between the upper parking area and the Bay entrance. The tram is ADA accessible, accommodating guests with mobility needs for a comfortable and safe ride. When planning your return trip, please allow an additional 20 to 30 minutes for drying off, walking to the tram stop, and waiting for the next available tram to the top. Trams operate continuously throughout the day, but due to high visitor volume, wait times may vary.
